Must-Buy Hybrids and Electric Cars for 2021

The number of hybrids and electric cars is slowly going up – both in terms of the number of cars available and their numbers on the road as well. Sure, they’re more expensive to buy initially, but the cost savings offered by these vehicles are substantial over the long term. In fact, EVs tend to have lower ownership and maintenance expenses than most other cars. And these are some models that are worth considering.

Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

If you’re not ready to make the switch to a full EV, you may want to start with a hybrid. One option is the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. It’s a plug-in hybrid that can be driven exclusively on electric power for up to 32 miles or on gas alone for 488 miles, or as a hybrid for a total range of 520 miles. If your commute is under 30 miles, you’ll never have to stop at a gas station unless it’s for a long road trip.

Jaguar I-PACE

If you’re willing to spend a little more, and enjoy driving, consider the all-electric Jaguar I-PACE. It’s a real driver’s car with almost perfect weight distribution, excellent aerodynamic efficiency, dramatic exterior design, tech, and feature-loaded luxurious interior that’s also very spacious. It can do 234 miles on a full charge, and its two electric motors develop 394hp and 512 lb-ft of torque.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a plug-in hybrid crossover with 4×4 capability. It returns up to 74 mpg in ideal conditions in hybrid mode and has a range of up to 310 miles. On electric power alone, it can travel 22 miles on a full charge. Recharging means plugging it in or using the regenerative braking system to charge the batteries. It’s also packed with a long list of infotainment and safety features.

Tesla Model 3

The Model 3 is efficient, luxurious, and fun to drive. It offers class-leading range, performance, and handling in a relatively less-pricey package. The Model 3 is also easily customizable for low price, long-range, or high-performance. Customers also get access to some of the best semi-automated driving assistance features that exist. The Model 3 is easily one of the best, most-complete electric vehicles on sale today.
